Commissioned,
not retailed.
House of Shiloh is a fragrance atelier. At present the work is expressed through hand-poured candles — each made only to order, never in anticipation. Most pieces leave the studio with a name we wrote down on the day.
The atelier began with a simple question: what would it mean to build fragrance the way one prepares a meal for someone — quietly, carefully, with attention to what cannot be rushed.
We are not a brand in the conventional sense. We do not release collections, seasons, or limited drops. There is only the work: a commission is received, it is read twice, and then we begin.
What you receive is a fragrance shaped for a specific life, a specific moment, a specific space. Often the name is familiar. Sometimes it reveals something even the sender did not expect.
“Every commission begins with a story about a person.”
The principle
We do not make fragrance
to fill a shelf.
We make it because someone asked us to.
№ 01 · The studio · Pretoria
The signature archive is ten fragrances we've been asked for so often they are remembered. Everything beyond this is made once, and once only.
Six movements, always in order.
Every commission begins as a story. We listen until we can sense the room it belongs to.
Fragrance is written before it is made. Top, heart, and base are arranged until the structure feels complete.
Wax is hand-poured into still glass vessels. One pour. One moment. No interruption.
Each piece is left to settle in silence. What is rushed cannot hold depth.
A name is drawn from the story itself — sometimes immediate, sometimes unfolding slowly.
Each work is signed, dated, and wrapped in linen. A hand-written note accompanies every piece.
Four principles the studio returns to.
Most commissions leave the studio within seven to ten days. We do not accelerate intention.
Principle № 01
Each batch is intentionally limited. If it cannot be held in memory, it is too large.
Principle № 02
Every fragrance is a response to something real — a person, a room, a moment in time. Never a category. Never a trend.
Principle № 03
Materials are disclosed without concealment. What is natural is named. What is created is acknowledged.
Principle № 04
“Let your yes be yes.”
Matthew 5:37

A quiet room. A slow practice. A place where fragrance is not produced — but composed.
