How we handle
what you tell us.

A short notice, written in plain language. Aligned with the Protection of Personal Information Act.

I.

What we hold

When you commission a candle, write to the studio, or place an order, we keep what you give us — your name, your address, what you told us about the person or moment the candle is for. Nothing more. We do not buy data, we do not enrich it from outside sources, and we do not pass it on.

II.

Why we hold it

We hold it to make and ship the piece you commissioned, to talk with you about the work, and to honour any tax records the law requires. If you opt into the journal, we hold your email until you ask us to stop.

III.

Who else sees it

The studio. The carriers we use to ship a piece — they need an address. The payment processor — they need the card and the amount, never the contents. That is the whole list.

IV.

How long we hold it

Order records: five years (the South African Revenue Service requires it). Commission notes: kept until you ask us to delete them. Journal email: until you unsubscribe. After that we erase it from working systems within thirty days.

V.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. You can ask us to correct it, and we will correct it. You can ask us to delete it, and we will — within the limits the law places on us. Write to hello@houseofshiloh.co.za and a person will reply.

VI.

Cookies and the site

The site uses a small set of cookies for the basics — keeping your commission saved in your browser for seven days, remembering whether you accepted cookies. We do not run advertising trackers. We do run privacy-respecting analytics so we can see which pages are read and which are not.

Current setting: Not yet chosen.
